McCain’s website had seven recipes posted under wife Cindy McCain’s section attributed as “McCain Family Recipes.”

“This past Sunday, Lauren Handel, an eagle-eyed attorney from New York, was searching for a specific recipe from Giada DeLaurentis, a chef on the Food Network. Yet whenever she Googled the different ingredients in the recipe, the oddest thing happened: not only did the Food Network’s site come up, as expected, but so did John McCain’s campaign site.”

Now they’re reporting that this was “merely the work of an underpaid intern” who was, I suspect, tasked to fill out Cindy’s section with homey, but clever recipes that demonstrate how well the McCains eat, or how creative she can be in the kitchen. One of those little image-building details that might influence someone to change their vote a little.

What it says to me is : “have a volunteer find some neat recipes so we can say Cindy cooks cool. Better not let on that Cindy probably hasn’t had to cook anything herself since John made Senator.”

So, one thing cool about internet is that any jerk with an idea can put it out there. Really enterprising jerks can collect a whole bunch of stale ideas and make them into “cool shirts”. What many people don’t realize is that it’s really easy to make stupid shirts; and rather difficult to make excellent shirts.

Take the title of this entry, for example. I think it’s hilarious. What if I made that slogan into a shirt though?

Then it’s just stupid and kind of mean. Whatever. I don’t mean to knock down Noisebot and their dumbclever, cool shirts. It’s just that they’ve taken things that really weren’t funny the first time, waited for them become beaten into nonsensical internet memes that bludgeon our consciousness day in and day out, and then decided somebody should wear these things out into the world of people who will have absolutely no idea what your shirt means. Ugh.
